Types of Cars

Automobiles comprise the biggest group of all on- and off-road vehicles in the world. More popularly known as cars, these are smaller than sizable types that have larger loading capacity. Over 800 million cars are travelling both paved and rough roads all over the world for countless of purposes ranging from mere transportation to recreation and entertainment. The population of cars will boom to a billion in the next ten years which will require additional riding and parking spaces.



There are less than ten recognized classifications of cars according to their design and function. Generally, cars’ main function is to transport limited number of humans or cargo. However, the fact that there are other types of vehicles that are specifically designed for transportation purposes, modern cars today are now designed with additional features that allow some to be used in racing and other entertainment activities.



Microcars are a group of cars classified by their typically small size and capacity. It normally carries two passengers and is purposely designed for oddness and attention-catching. Some people buy this type of cars to avoid spending too much. Due to its limited capacity and features, a microcar is normally less expensive. Off-roaders belong to a group of cars that are normally used for coarse-road travels. They are identified by their large wheels with high surface traction and slightly boxy body design. This type of cars can carry more passengers than orthodox cars and has a wide room for cargos.
