Pickup trucks were first introduced in 1917. In the mid 1950s through the 1960s, pickup crew and extended cabs were made. There are three types of pickup trucks: compact, midsize, and full-size trucks. Each varies according to certain specifications such as size and features.
Compact pickups have wheelbases that are less than 115 inches and its length measures about 189 to 192 inches. Midsize trucks are larger with 131-inch wheelbases and length of 200 inches. Full-size trucks have shorter wheelbases than those of midsize trucks which range from 126 to 146 inches and a length of 248 inches. Regarding the engine each kind of truck features, a compact truck has in-line four-cylinders, a midsize truck has V6s, and a full-size truck 4.6s, 4.8s, and V8s.
The traditional truck body of a pickup truck is front seats with limited space in the back. However, some pickup trucks have space behind the seats but with limited second row seating because they sometimes have rear doors that open to the second row. Now that many trucks are used as a family car, there are jump seats which can be folded down to add space and comfort.
There are trucks just for transporting cargos, but there is also the kind of truck that you can drive as you would a sedan, just like the
Edmonton ram quad cab. There are several truck cab styles that you can choose from: a standard cab, an extended cab, and a crew cab.
A standard cab provides one bench or two bucket seats. It lacks second row seating. A crew cab pickup truck—which is the most popular kind of pickup—has four doors that open to two rows of seating. Its rear doors swing forward, just like the front doors. A good example is the
Edmonton ram quad cab. An extended pickup truck has a second row of seating, but its rear seats are opened in a different way compared with that of a crew cab. It also has jump seats and additional space for storage which you can make use of for groceries or packages.
The
Edmonton ram quad cab is considered a luxury sport utility vehicle because it functions both as a truck for its towing capacity and a luxury car for its style and comfort. If you are going for both style and practicality, drive a pickup truck.
